It was all joy as Manyatta Youth Entertainment engaged youth, women, leaders and Kwale county government  in a mega festival dubbed "Anika Amani Festival'' at Kombani social hall ground on Saturday.

The forum organized by MAYE in partnership with Forum SYD sought to promote resilience against violence and conflicts among youths within the sub county.

There was applause as youths and other like-minded stakeholders entertained the public with skillfully dramatized skits, dances, spoken word and encouraging speeches.

Dressed on white t shirts the youths started their procession from Madafuni Estate Maganyakulo ending their walk at Kombani social hall ground.

Symbolically the white t shirts depicted the prevalence of peace within the entire sub county.

Addressing journalists at Kombani grounds on Saturday, Manyatta Youth Entertainment executive director Nicholas Songora urged the locals to find the root cause of teenage pregnancies and the upsurge of juvenile extremist groups.

The director says there is need for various stakeholders including civil society organizations to collectively work together in a bid to address the situation.

“There have been an increase in juvenile and extremist groups and we the as civil society  have to look into the root cause of all these.” he said

Mr. Songora says everyone has a constitutional right to access and enjoy basic rights as enshrined in the new constitution.

Meanwhile, Niache Nikomae organization founder Karisa Fagio says teenage pregnancy has become rampant in the Coast region.

He says the menace has had a negative impact in the contemporary society.
The activist says teenage pregnancy disrupts the future of the young girls.

“Something should be done. Teenage pregnancy is very high especially in Kilifi County. Last year we recorded a total of 17,000 teenage pregnancies. That means we have to work together as stakeholders to address this situation,” he said
