Mama Beauty Foundation, a self-driven initiative in Mombasa County is appealing on the political leadership to effectively extend their mandate to vulnerable children in order to nurture talents.

According to its founder, Lubna Nassir vulnerable do not enjoy their constitutional rights like their counterparts thus do not get a platform to interact with their colleagues.

She adds “denying the children an opportunity hinders their progress as they do not expose their talents to the outside world”

Addressing the media in Mombasa on Saturday at Uwanja wa Mbuzi Ground in Kongowea during a sports and talent awareness promotion event the activist said the vulnerable children undergo a myriad of challenges that require immediate intervention by various stakeholders

She argues that there is a need for political leaders to chip in and offer the necessary support.

“These children pass through hell. They do not have food shelter clothing among other things” she said

Dorcas Andati, Likoni Aids Orphanage administrator called orphaned parents to expose their children to the outside world.

According to her most of the vulnerable children are talented in many ways and should therefore be given a chance.

“I want to tell orphaned parents to bring the children out. Most of them are talented” he noted

She says the law applies equally to all citizens and therefore vulnerable children should be given a chance.

An FKF Coach Mombasa sub branch Hussein Shem says Coast region is rich in talents but lacks sponsorships.

He however wants donors and well-wishers to come on board and offer assistance to the less fortunate in society.

Shem argues “the matches will give a chance to vulnerable children and eventually realize their potential in society”

He says despite the multitude of talents in the coast region the national team has no player from the region.

“We do not have any player from Mombasa county playing for the national football team” he insisted

Some of the participating team include among others Kadzonzo FC, Bombolulu Youth, Tabarak Homes Likoni Aids Orphanage Hamburg FC and Canaan Homes FC.

The one day sporting event brought together over 500 children across the county.

A total of 12 teams lined up for the friendly competition geared towards identifying talents among the less fortunate in Mombasa County.

The children are drawn from Mvita, Nyali, Likoni, Changamwe, Kisauni and Jomvu sub counties.

Wanyonyi urged both the operators to register with the union to avoid being misled by what she claims are quack organisations.
