Audit Mombasa county funds, auditor general told

By Peter Kombe Former Mombasa senator Hassan Omar Sarai wants the auditor general to conduct a forensic audit of Mombasa county funds. Sarai, a gubernatorial hopeful wants the auditor general to audit the county’s funds for the last 10 years citing embezzlement. “The auditor general should audit the county’s funds for the past 10 years,” he noted. Sarai claims the county, under the leadership of Mombasa county governor Ali Hassan Joho has been engaging in graft. Sarai who is eyeing for the county's top seat further lauded the Kenya Kwanza coalition saying it is the only coalition with an agenda for the Coastal people. “Kenya kwanza is the only coalition that will address the plight facing coast residents,” he said. Meanwhile, Sarai’s running mate Selina Maitha urged the security apparatus to fully protect women and children. She argues that women are prone to political violence. “Women are the mostly affected lot during campaigns.’’ She warned youths against been misused by the political class. At the same time Nyali Member of Parliament Mohammed Ali asked the security agents to protect politicians regardless of their political affiliations. “Security agents should provide security to all politicians regardless of their status or political coalitions.”

Invest more in reproductive health budget- activists petition Mombasa county government

By M warandu Randu Human rights crusaders championing for youth rights have called on the Mombasa county government to pump in more funds in the health kitty in order to boost reproductive health amongst the youth. Addressing journalists in Mombasa on Wednesday during an engagement forum organized by Dream Achievers Youth Organization, DAYO, Sheenan Mbau, an activist from the Centre for the Study of Adolescence, CSA said accessing information regarding reproductive health among the youth is still a challenge. “I’m urging the county government of Mombasa to invest more in the health budget. Haki Yetu NGO launches "Mulika NG-CDF" to track public cash
