Ganze lawmaker Teddy Mwambire BY PETER KOMBE The government has been told to initiate long-term solutions including constructing multipurpose dams to eradicate hunger and drought in Ganze sub county, Kilifi County According to Ganze legislator, Teddy Mwambire short term solutions such distribution of relief food will not help in eradicating drought and hunger in the constituency. “The only way to do away with drought and hunger in Ganze is to come up with long-term solutions. Youths during a session at Mid view Hotel Mombasa BY PETER KOMBE Activists in Mombasa County want the county government to prioritize and invest in the health of young people following an upsurge of teenage pregnancy. This is after the county recorded a total of 2298 cases of pregnancy amongst girls aged 10- 19 between December last year and February this year. The survey sourced from the Kenya Demographic Health Survey and the department of health in Mombasa County indicates that a total of 616 girls were recorded in the month of December last year with the number shooting to 749 in January 2019. The source further states a steady increase of 933 girls in the month of February 2019. By Peter Kombe    Detectives in Likoni sub County are investigating an incident where Likoni deputy Officer Commanding Station OCS Joab Omondi shot a girl in a bar and later shot himself dead. The incident happened at Lovely Bar in Mtongwe area on Thursday night. The girl (25 years) old was identified by eye witnesses as Penina Kaimenyi was shot by the officer using a Ceska pistol G5969 after engaging in a war of words. An eye witness who sought anonymity said the victim (Penina) was a ‘mugoka’ vendor at the bar.
