Incorporate graft in Kenyan curriculum-Mutua tells National government

Machakos County Governor Dr Alfred Mutua addressing Machakos county secondary school heads in Mombasa on Tuesday

BY PETER KOMBE

Machakos governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has called on the national government to incorporate graft in Kenyan school curriculum.

According to the Machakos county boss incorporating the subject in schools will expose learners to the effects of corruption at early stage.

“Introducing this subject in schools will ensure that learners understand its effects at an early age” the governor said

Dr Mutua argued that for the country to thrive in all areas democracy must be upheld.

Addressing over four hundred secondary schools heads from Machakos County in Mombasa county on Tuesday Dr Mutua also urged religious leaders to spearhead the war on graft.

“It is ironical that the same religious leaders singing hymns in places of worship receive corruptly acquired money. They should fight this war” Dr Mutua noted

According to him, he ironically says the same religious leaders who should spearhead the war against graft, are the same leaders accepting (it) graft in their places of worship.

He is accusing some religious leaders of watering down efforts by the government to combat the war on corruption.

“These religious leaders should be at the fore front in this war. Again you school principals should not at all be involved in this game” he stated

Dr Mutua further called on Kenyans to support President Kenyatta’s bid to wipe out graft in public coffers.

In his quest for the top sit come 2022, the Machakos county boss says there is to inject new blood in Kenyan presidency.

“Let’s support President Uhuru Kenyatta’s efforts in waging this war against corruption” he pointed out

He argues that Kenya as a country needs a more youthful president who will spur the country to greater heights of development

Dr Mutua cites youth unemployment and economic depression as some of the thorny issues that need critical attention.

“We need to pump in new blood in this country. Some of our leaders have been in power for all those years.it our time now” he said

According to him the government has not fully addressed the issue of unemployment among the youths.

He says there is need for the government to sort out the economic crisis if the life of Kenyans is to be improved.

“The issue of unemployment should be addressed amicably. Again our economy has never risen for a long time, this is also one of the critical issues that need to be addressed” he noted

Mutua accused a section of political leaders showing interest in the 2022 presidency and have been in power for a couple of decades.
