Detectives to unearth the cause of Likoni deputy OCS self shoot

Detectives in Likoni sub County are investigating an incident where Likoni deputy Officer Commanding Station OCS Joab Omondi shot a girl in a bar and later shot himself dead.

The incident happened at Lovely Bar in Mtongwe area on Thursday night.

The girl (25 years) old was identified by eye witnesses as Penina Kaimenyi was shot by the officer using a Ceska pistol G5969 after engaging in a war of words.

An eye witness who sought anonymity said the victim (Penina) was a ‘mugoka’ vendor at the bar.

According to Likoni OCPD Benjamin Rotich the motive of the killing is yet to be established saying the officer was in constant communication with his colleagues before shooting himself.

“All was well and every one was ready for the Easter holiday” Rotich said

The OCPD says all officers had been deployed and ready for the Easter holiday duty.

“Everyone was ready for the Easter holiday”

Rotich however denied claims that the deceased lady (Penina) was a girlfriend to the officer.

Of late there has been a worrying trend in the country where police officers shoot themselves to death.

Invest more in reproductive health budget- activists petition Mombasa county government

By M warandu Randu Human rights crusaders championing for youth rights have called on the Mombasa county government to pump in more funds in the health kitty in order to boost reproductive health amongst the youth.
