Women demand equality in leadership as Kenya marks International Women’s Day

The women drawn from various institutions, including the civil society and the national assembly say the there is a need for the government to look into the affairs of women throughout the country. Likoni Member of Parliament Mishi Mboko argues that the two third gender rule is constitutional and should be implemented to the latter. Give women opportunities- FIDA petitions government

FIDA Logo  By Peter Kombe Federation of Women Lawyers Kenya Coast chapter has urged the government to grant leadership opportunities to women as the world celebrates women’s day. FIDA Kenya argues that women's rights are guaranteed by the Kenyan constitution. Speaking to journalist in Mombasa on Friday, during a legal aid clinic at Likoni Anglican Church, Caroline Mboku, FIDA Kenya Coast Region Representative said women rights are not a question of debate. The FIDA representative however says there is a need for women to fight for their own rights as enshrined as stipulated by the law. “The rights of women aren’t debatable. The laws are there and what we need is to see the government give women opportunities” she noted She called on women willing to get into leadership to undertake early preparation. Foreign artistes evade taxation- KFCB warns

KFCB Chief Executive Officer Ezekiel Mutua says the artistes fail to pay taxes to the taxman. “Some of these artistes who come into this country do not pay taxes to KRA” Dr Mutua said He said the money is mostly wired into their accounts in their mother countries. Mutua argued that most of the foreign artists holding concerts in the country have been banned in their own countries but harvest large here in Kenya. The sales manager says there still exists a gap in the grain industry that needs to be filled and opines for a more exploration of the same. “Competition is very healthy in any business. Mombasa locals express divergent opinions on President Uhuru's new cabinet reshuffling

The locals argue that Uhuru's move has come at the right time taking into consideration the inflated corruption in government offices. According to the residents Uhuru's dismissal of some of the cabinet secretaries will assist in the war against graft. They argue that some of the ministries require new blood to be injected into government if corruption is to be combated in public coffers. The locals attribute the current high living standard to the galloping graft. Business to government B2G will enhance feedback mechanism-say County Officials

According to senior departmental officials, the system will enable businesses to relay feedback to the government which will in turn collect analyze and respond to queries. Addressing stakeholders in Mombasa during an awareness forum at the Governors premises on Thursday Chief Officer in charge of Trade Tourism and Investment Abdulwahab Mubarak said the system set for a mega launch on Friday is the first of its kind throughout the country. He says the system will solve the challenges of delays in feedback by relevant county officials.
