Allign Budget t to Combat COVID-19 amongst Youths, Activist Tell County

A section of activists in Mombasa County have called on the county government to set aside a special kitty in a bid to address the rapid unemployment amongst the youths as the nation battles with COVID19 pandemic.

The human rights defenders argue that once the kitty is set aside youths will be able to solve some of the critical issues they face during this COVID-19 period.

Speaking to the media in Mombasa on Friday dream achievers youth organisation executive director Seif Jira pointed that the impact of the pandemic cannot be overemphasised.

“There is need for the county government to allocate a special fund that will cater for the needs of the youths,” he noted.

At the same time Jira lauded the county government on the strides taken to combat the spread of the corona virus.

He further called on a collaborative approach amongst various stakeholders in the war against the virus.

“This war against corona virus requires a multifaceted approach, it is high time that we work together as stakeholders,” he said.

He noted that the youth play a fundamental role in nation building calling on the government to develop youth programs in a bid to empower them economically.

Mr Seif also added that the organisation plans to engage the media in Kisumu, Mombasa and Nairobi counties to help document issues affecting young people health including sexual reproductive health and rights.

This he said will assist in highlighting issues that don’t receive media coverage to encourage timely intervention on the same.

High court Justice John Onyiego has for the second time ordered that a child who had been earlier awarded to the father by a lower court which found the mother unfit to be shared among the couple. Invest more in reproductive health budget- activists petition Mombasa county government

By M warandu Randu Human rights crusaders championing for youth rights have called on the Mombasa county government to pump in more funds in the health kitty in order to boost reproductive health amongst the youth.
