Speaking to the media in Mombasa on Monday Kiraithe refuted claims that the initiative is owned by the government hence calling upon Kenyans to instead own it as a community based programme. “This is not a government owned initiative but rather belongs to the community. He says the partnership will enhance technological advancement throughout country. Buildings close to the Lighthouses in Likoni area at stake of being demolished

Senti Kumi Community Garden Photo, By Our Reporter By Our Reporter The peace at Senti Kumi area in Likoni is likely to end after buildings close to the lighthouses in the area have been marked as being a nuisance to sea captains entering the port of Mombasa. Last week, National Land Commission Chairman Mohamed Swazuri said that the buildings close to the lighthouses are interfering with the vision of the sea captains. He added that the sea captains have been grumbling on the same pointing out that the area is a public land. The pointed out that a notice had been given last year for the residents to move out of the area. “We gave a notice to people who have built houses close to lighthouses. Devolution ministry pledges to set a directorate to oversee County Economic Blocs

Addressing journalist in Mombasa on Wednesday Charles Principal   Secretary in charge of   Devolution and ASAL Charles Sunkuli said the top organ will offer guiding principles and policies on the running of CEBs. The PS   however indicated that there exists a myriad of challenges in the operationalization of CEBs. “The directorate will be in charge of overseeing the overall operation of CEBs throughout the country” he stated Sunkuli further indicated that there is a need to adequately address the challenges in order to ensure proper functioning of the CEBs. Disability community accuse Mombasa County of failing to access NHIF

PHOTO (file) By Peter Kombe A section of the disability community in Mombasa County has accused the county government on claims of failing to access the National Hospital Insurance Fund initiative offered by the National government. Speaking to the press in Mombasa on Saturday, Tunaweza Women with Disability Executive Director Charity Chahasi said the county government has been evangelizing on the same but no action taken. “We have not been included in the national security fund initiative. We are only see county officials from the health department speaking about this during meetings” she noted       She pointed that the county government has been reluctant in including the disabled in the government initiative. Chahasi further noted that people living with disability require closer medical attention noting that it should be spread out to all PWD’s.

Tanzanian immigration officials finally release Zuma Madilo after proving his innocence

The Tanzanian authorities held him for a total of eleven days. Addressing the media in Mombasa on Saturday at the Pandya Memorial Hospital Haki Africa Executive Director Hussein Khalid said Madilo was mistakenly arrested by Tanzanian authorities.
