Nyumba Kumi initiative: Solution to insecurity challenges in the country- Kiraithe tells Kenyans

Government spokesman Eric Kiraithe has urged Kenyans to embrace the Nyumba Kumi initiative to avert cases of insecurity challenges in the country.

Speaking to the media in Mombasa on Monday Kiraithe refuted claims that the initiative is owned by the government hence calling upon Kenyans to instead own it as a community based programme.

“This is not a government owned initiative but rather belongs to the community. Let Kenyans embrace it to avert cases of insecurity” he said

He adds: “It is the responsibility of every Kenyan to know what is happening in their neighborhoods”

Kiraithe further noted that through the program cases of radicalization and drug abuse will be tamed.

“You have to peep into your neighborhood and see what is going on there. Again through Nyumba Kumi various cases of drug abuse and radicalization will be contained” the spokesman insisted.

The spokesperson urged the media to educate Kenyans on the importance of the said initiative.

He further called on Kenyans to remain vigilant at the grassroots levels reiterating the government’s effort in eradicating terrorism in the country.

“As a government we are up in arms to combat any terror related incidences that poses a threat to the nation. I want to tell Kenyans to remain vigilant” Kiraithe noted

On the issue of graft in public coffers, Kiraithe indicated that the government is committed to combating graft at all cost.

He urged Kenyans to question the integrity of all public officers they suspect to be engaging in corruption.

Invest more in reproductive health budget- activists petition Mombasa county government
