Join CSOs in solving youth challenges- Mombasa county activists petition counties.

Some of the civil society organizations in Mombasa County are calling on county governments to work closely with civil society organizations in order to solve some of the critical challenges facing the youth.

Speaking to the press in Mombasa on Saturday Dream Achievers Youth Organizations Chief Executive Officer Seif Jira said there is a need for counties to engage the youth in development issues in a bid to uplift their standard of living.

He said youth undergo critical challenges that require the intervention of the current leadership.

“Youth pass through challenges that need the intervention of both the county governments and the national government. Counties should work together with the civil society to realize this” Seif noted

The director said most of the work involving the youth has been left to civil society organizations adding that it is high time counties take up the challenge

He says there is a need for county governments throughout the country to initiate and involve the youth in development projects in bid to economically empower them.
He urged the youth to organize themselves in groups in order to receive funding from the youth kitty.

“All development projects reserved for the youth should be channeled to the youth themselves. This is to ensure that they are economically empowered” the DAYO CEO said

At the same time, Ali Mtenzi a youth activist from Likoni sub county Mombasa County said the county has sufficient resources to benefit the locals.

“There are ample resources in this county and if well used can benefit the targeted youth groups. Most of the youths engage in crime due to lack of jobs” he noted

He said if the resources are well utilized criminal activities will be minimized. 

The activist however pointed that the youth have not been fully included in decisions that affect the general public.

“The youth should again be included in decision making that affect all Kenyans regardless of their origin

Invest more in reproductive health budget- activists petition Mombasa county government

By M warandu Randu Human rights crusaders championing for youth rights have called on the Mombasa county government to pump in more funds in the health kitty in order to boost reproductive health amongst the youth. The campaign dubbed “ Mulika NG-CDF -Free SMS -*483*6#” allows citizens to understand the total amount of money allocated and disbursed to every sub county within Mombasa county. “This campaign will help all Kenyans understand their constitutional right. We have to ensure that public money is accounted for. You just have to follow a few steps and you are done” Paul noted According to John Paul, the initiative will enable Kenyans keep a track record of their elected leaders as far as the management and accountability of the CDF kitty is concerned.
