62 artisan trainees receive tool-kits from KCB Foundation

A total of sixty two artisan course trainees from the Coast region have benefitted from part of ksh 20 million tool kits procured by KCB Foundation in partnership with German International development agency GIZ.

The beneficiaries received the kits at Kenya Coast National Polytechnic under 2jiajiri program.

According to KCB Foundation the tool kits will enable them establish either individual or group based micro enterprises in building and construction sector.

Speaking during the handing over ceremony at the KCNP Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho pledged to support the initiative.

“I thank KCB Foundation for this important initiative as it is transformative and fits the current job demand and going forward we should design similar future programs for the youths,”

Under this program, KCB Foundation targets 580 beneficiaries in Employment and Skills in Eastern Africa.

The KCB Foundation aims at transforming job-seekers into employees by helping them realize their potential.

Some of the informal sectors under this program include: building and construction, automotive maintenance and repair, beauty and personal care, domestic services and agribusiness.

Jane Mwangi KCB Foundation managing director said there is need to empower youths through capital financing and agribusiness development training.

“In conjunction with GIZ we have handed over 300 tool kits to youth in different counties since inception bringing us closer to our goal of equipping 580 youths by November,” said Ms Mwangi.

2jiajiri was launched in March 2016 as a flagship enterprise and wealth creation program seeking to empower 10,000 youths every year.

Mombasa Judge Gives Custody Of Minor to Her Sex Worker Mother

High court Justice John Onyiego has for the second time ordered that a child who had been earlier awarded to the father by a lower court which found the mother unfit to be shared among the couple. Invest more in reproductive health budget- activists petition Mombasa county government

By M warandu Randu Human rights crusaders championing for youth rights have called on the Mombasa county government to pump in more funds in the health kitty in order to boost reproductive health amongst the youth.
