County documentary will expose us to potential development partners- DAYO directorate says

A proposal by the county government to engage Dream Achiever Youth
Organization in designing a health video documentary will expose us to potential
development partners, Seif Jira, Dream Achievers Youth Organization executive
director has said.

The director further says the documentary will sensitize the public on the youth
friendly facilities developed by the county that the public has little or no
information about.

“The county has sought our partnership so that we, DAYO can design a video
documentary that will highlight the achievements in the health sector since 2013 to
date,” said Seif.

The documentary will pinpoint among other issues the satellite Coast General
facilities erected by the county government over the past six years.

These facilities according to him are: Vikwatani, Mwakirunge, Mikindani and
Likoni health centres.

The director was speaking to the media at DAYO offices on Wednesday.

He embraced the proposal by the county and further pledged full support.

“I want to say that as DAYO we welcome all partnerships with the county
government. We are ready to support this initiative and ready to develop a script,”
noted the director.

The director says the documentary will also sensitize the public on the services
offered by the county government at the grass root level.

He however argues that a section of the public is ignorant of the programs
implemented by the county at the grassroots level.

The director said, “With the production of this video documentary the public will
get to understand all the YFS facilities erected by the county that they know little
or nothing about,”

In a phone conversation with Seif Jira, a county reproductive health official Emily
Mwaringa confirmed that a total of 6 YFS containers will be installed in Mombasa
county to support the program.

By the time of going to press, DAYO expected to receive an official letter from the
county health department to develop the script and shooting the documentary for
the implementation of the program. 

The documentary, in form of an advert will give a spot check of the milestones that
the county has made in terms of the health sector since devolution in 2013.

DAYO reproductive health and rights officer Gaitano Muganda says the
documentary will assist in the disseminating information to the public.

According to him the documentary will enable youths understand what entails YFS
and its benefit.

“The documentary will assist in complementing the work done by community
health volunteers in terms of service delivery. It will help young people to
understand all the services available in health facilities,” Gaitano said.

On Tuesday (October 1), the director, Seif Jira and Gaitano Muganda (sexual
reproductive and health rights officer) received a courtesy invitation at the county’s
health department to cement the proposal.

The duo had a detailed engagement with Mombasa county health executive Hazel
Koitaba and Mombasa county partners’ coordinator Lucy Nyambura.

The county has already invested in television sets that will be mounted on waiting
rooms at the facilities.

Invest more in reproductive health budget- activists petition Mombasa county government
