Report cases of corrupt officers- Likoni DCC tells youths

LIKONI Sub county Deputy County Commissioner Eric Wamulevu wants youths in the area to report any police officers suspected to be corrupt.

While speaking to youth leaders in Dongo Kundu organized by Manyatta Youth Entertainment recently the DCC said citizens have an exclusive right to say no to corruption.

He said “If there is any police officer that you suspect to be corrupt, give me a report. Our mandate is to protect you as citizens.”

The DCC argues that citizens, including the youth should oppose any move to suppress them.

He further wants the youth to take up their responsibilities and avoid engaging negative atrocities.

“You should be at the forefront in fighting for your constitutional rights,”

The DCC says youths have dozens of opportunities that they can venture in and invest.

He however noted that the society has developed a tendency of accusing the police.

“There are many donors out there. You have the opportunity to invest. There is this tendency of citizens accusing the police,” he said

Manyatta Youth Entertainment Executive Director Nicholas Songora says there is need for the youth to invest in income generating activities.

According to him youths are easy target for violent extremism recruiters.

“You have an opportunity to invest in income generating activities," the MAYE Director insisted.

He states that there is need for the youths to embrace arts and cultural heritage.

He says MAYE embraces arts and theatre, sports and social media as a communication tool to champion for sustainable peace.
