Seven female teams in Likoni sub county to participate in historical football tournament

In a bid to identify emerging talents in Mombasa county Mombasa Senator Mohammed Faki has sponsored a one day female tournament in Likoni Sub County slated for July 20.

The tournament that brings together a total of seven women teams will be held at Likoni stadium.

The tournament does not only seek to identify talents among girls but also address the issue of teenage pregnancy within the sub county.

Mombasa Senator Mohammed Faki who has been at the at the forefront in addressing some of the teething challenges facing youths in Mombasa county is expected to grace the sporting event.

Likoni sub county office of the senator youth coordinator Shekuwe Naaman and one of the organizers of the tournament says the event seeks to empower female youths expose their talents.

He thanked the senator for sponsoring the sporting event in Likoni Sub County.

The female football committee tournament is steered by Khadija Mwinyi who also doubles as the head of communication in the office of the senator Mombasa County.

The committee has also partnered with the office of the women representative Mombasa County, Women team, Caucus County Assembly steered by Milka Areba.

Other stakeholders include; the office of Member of Parliament Likoni constituency.

All the participating teams will be awarded kits of pads.

The participating teams include; Likoni starlets, Likoni stars, Ocean Stars, Likoni Queens, Likoni Zarika, Vyemani Queens and Tumaini Queens.

All games will be played within a duration of 30 minutes.

All players are required to adhere to all FIFA rules including among others playing the game in full sports attire (jersey), respect each other and be at the playground in the appropriate time.

The fixture for the event is as follows; pool A consists of Likoni Starlets, Likoni Stars, Ocean Stars and Likoni Queens with pool B consisting of Likoni Zarika, Vyemani Queens and Tumani Queens.

In the semi-finals category, Pool A winner 1 will play against pool B winner 2 while Pool A winner 2 will take on pool B winner 1.

In the finals category, the winner in semi 1 is expected to tackle the winner in semi 2.

Mombasa Judge Gives Custody Of Minor to Her Sex Worker Mother

High court Justice John Onyiego has for the second time ordered that a child who had been earlier awarded to the father by a lower court which found the mother unfit to be shared among the couple. Invest more in reproductive health budget- activists petition Mombasa county government
