Mombasa locals express divergent opinions on President Uhuru's new cabinet reshuffling

A section of Mombasa county residents have expressed divergent opinions on the new appointments made by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The locals argue that Uhuru's move has come at the right time taking into consideration the inflated corruption in government offices.

According to the residents Uhuru's dismissal of some of the cabinet secretaries will assist in the war against graft.

They argue that some of the ministries require new blood to be injected into government if corruption is to be combated in public coffers.

The locals attribute the current high living standard to the galloping graft.

Mathias Shipeta, an activist and a Rapid Response Officer from Haki Africa claims that Rashid Echesa's removal from the sports ministry is appropriate due to the graft allegations that has rocked the ministry.

He is however of the opinion that the post would otherwise be allocated to a youth.

"As a concerned Kenyan i feel that Echesas removal from the ministry is appropriate but i feel that this post would otherwise be allocated to a youth" Shipeta exclaimed

The activist argues that there are dozens of youths in the country who are competent enough to head the sports ministry.

According to Shipeta, CS Amina's appointment at the sports ministry is inappropriate saying her recent statements on HELB and the new curriculum disqualify her from holding the docket.

"He says the sports ministry is a quite reloaded claiming that CS Amina cannot execute the duties in the ministry.

"The President has done a good job. but what i can say is that appointing CS Amina is not the best move. CS Amina hs been making statements that i believe disqualify her" Shipeta said

Meanwhile, Sylvia Atiang, a local claims that the reshuffling of the cabinet is not a parameter to minimizing corruption in the country.

She opines that CS Amina is unable to perform the duties vested to her in her new docket.

"The president has done a commendable job, but that does not mean that corruption will end in this country" she noted

On Friday president Uhuru Kenyatta made reshuffles in his cabinet dismissing Rashid Echesa as the sports boss.

President uhuru kenyatta appointed CS Amina as the new sports cabinet secretary while appointing Professor George Magoha as the new Education Ministry cabinet secretary.
