Expect a couple of goodies from desalination conference slated for 2021-says IDA SG

The desalination conference slated for year 2021 in Mombasa County is bringing in with a package of goodies-the International desalination Association Secretary General has confirmed

According to IDA Secretary general Shannon McCarthy the conference will open an opportunity to renowned researchers in distinguished fields.

“The conference is bringing to this county a variety of packages including educational programs, research as well as scholarships” she said

She says environmental concerns and scholarships will top of the agenda.

Mombasa county deputy governor Dr William Kingi says the desalination plant will aid in solving the rampant water shortage in various parts of the country.

Dr Kingi reiterated the county’s commitment towards solving water shortage in within the county.

“This international conference will assist in finding a lasting solution to the water shortage in not only in Mombasa but also in various parts of the country” the Mombasa county deputy boss said

IDA Secretary General McCarthy says also in package at the conference are educational programs geared towards enlightening the public on the significance of desalination.

She further argues that the technology will boost water production in the country.

“I want to assure Kenyans that we shall have different programs. Some of these include among others educational research and also case studies of how desalination has worked in various countries” she said

On his part, National Water Storage and Harvesting Authority Chief Executive Officer Sammy Mburu said there is a need to explore the vast marine resources available in the ocean.

He adds this project is coming at an opportune time. The national government is rallying behind Mombasa County.

“There are limitless resources in the ocean and this project will allow us to go an extra mile in exploring it” the CEO noted

Mombasa City County has been shortlisted to host the desalination conference scheduled for year 2021

Other cities expected to host the same event include Sidney and Melbourne in Australia.

Over 2500 international delegates are expected to attend the conference.

Invest more in reproductive health budget- activists petition Mombasa county government

By M warandu Randu Human rights crusaders championing for youth rights have called on the Mombasa county government to pump in more funds in the health kitty in order to boost reproductive health amongst the youth.
