Matuga law-maker Kassim Tandaza has urged Interior Ministry Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i to seal all loopholes used by drug peddlers to sneak drugs into the country.

Speaking to journalist in Kwale county on Sunday the Member of Parliament said there is need for the government to find a lasting solution to the problem.

“Matiangi is a very able CS taking into consideration the fact that president Uhuru Kenyatta added on his responsibilities. I don’t see the reason why he cannot seal all the loopholes in all entry points” he noted

He says the menace has greatly affected several counties within the the coast region.

The MP called on the interior CS to effectively exercise  the responsibility vested to him by the constitution.

“The issue of drugs is major concern not in Matuga sub county only but throughout the country. The interior CS should actively play his role” Tandaza indicated

The legislator who was elected on Amani National Congress (ANC) ticket also blamed the security apparatus located at entry points including Kenya ports authority and airports on claims of laxity.

On the issue of rampant unemployment in the area the legislator says he is committed to combating it by delivering investment opportunities to the youths.

The lawmaker further urged the youth to engage in income generating activities.

“I call upon the youth to engage in income generating activities. We all know that unemployment rate has gone high. But as Kwale leaders we are looking for a way out” the law maker noted

He says there is a need for the youth in the area to engage the local leadership in a bid to boost their economic standards.

Tandaza  urged Kwale county leaders to pool their resources together in order to solve unemployment crisis in within the county.

“Our youths should come together and engage the local leaders so that we can all eradicate unemployment in Kwale County” he stated

Meanwhile Waa -Ngombeni Member of County Assembly Mwinyi Mwasera said he is intending to donate over 1.5 million to various clubs in the area.

Mwasera said youths play a significant role in transforming the society.

“I’m intending to donate 1.5 million to some of the clubs in my ward so that we can uplift the youths” the MCA said

He said with the help of other well wishers he will ensure that youths are engaged in sports and games in order to explore their talents.
